Direct flights from Charlotte to Belize only take place on Saturdays, one to and one from... so our trip dates were pretty easy to set. We flew from CLT to BZE which took about 3.5 hours.

From there we caught a 25 min taxi directly to our next mode of transportation, the water taxi to Caye Caulker (pronounced: key caw-ker). {{We took the Caye Caulker Water Taxi instead of the Belize Express Water Taxi because it was slightly cheaper however if we were to do it over again, the Belize Express is MUCH more timely and reliable than the Caye Caulker Water Taxi. Their schedules are very similar as well.}} The water taxi takes 45-50 minutes and was about $35US round trip for the 2 of us.
BJ and I on the water taxi!
We finally got to Caye Caulker around 4pm and we were starving. Caye Caulker does not have cars, only golf carts, so our golf cart taxi took us to the place we were staying, Hidden Gem. There is no address our residence for the week and really no addresses what so ever but everyone on Caye Caulker pretty much knows the whole island. Caye Caulker is much longer than it is wide. It is only 2 miles long and varies in width across. We walked to the closest restaurant we could find and had dinner at Tropical Paradise. {They offer bikes but I prefer walking to biking. I haven't ridden in a long time and was concerned the uneven roads might be trouble for me} At Tropical Paradise, BJ got a burger that was delicious and I got the fish and chips {it wasn't all that awesome but still good in its own way}. The best part was that in addition to beer buckets like we have in the states, a lot of restaurants in Belize have rum and coke buckets: 3 glass bottles of coke and one bottles of Caribbean Rum! SO fun!
Note: {next to my handsome boyfriend} the bottle of Caribbean Rum on the table next to the Coke. There is no Pepsi in Belize, only Coca Cola.
Caye Caulker is where we spent most of our trip. Belize is on Mountain Time this time of year (late April) so it was 2 hour difference for us... and we pretty much never adjusted. It got dark around 6:30pm MT (which was 8:30pm ET for our bodies) so it was easy for us to get tired when it got darker and thereafter. We regularly went to be around 10-11pm MT time and woke up 6-7am MT.

Until next time,
